About

Flávio Albino Rodrigues, born in 2000 in Viseu, Portugal, is an accomplished accordionist dedicated to advancing the instrument’s role within the classical music world. His musical journey began at age nine at the Dr. José de Azeredo Perdigão Regional Conservatory of Music, though his exposure to traditional Portuguese music started even earlier, as he accompanied his parents in performances from the age of five.

This early experience allowed him to travel extensively, performing for notable figures such as Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, in the Vatican, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, in New-York, and two Presidents of the Portuguese Republic in several occasions.

About

At seventeen, Flávio moved to London to study under Professor Owen Murray at the Royal Academy of Music, where he completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Performance.

During his time in London, Flávio developed an extensive background in music education, working with over 500 students in workshops and masterclasses across England, the Viseu Conservatory of Music, in Portugal, and North-Jiading Accordion School in Shanghai, China. Since 2023, he has taught accordion at the Junior Academy of the Royal Academy of Music, where he also coaches chamber music. His pedagogical approach emphasizes both the versatility of the accordion and nurturing individual musical expression.
